At Royal Stranger, every piece begins as a vision. I start with a sketch, a whisper of color, curve, and movement.
These sketches are guided by instinct, memory, and emotion. Each line carries a thought about how a space will feel, how a piece will interact with those who inhabit it, and the story it will tell.
But a sketch alone cannot become furniture. It is the careful choice of materials and the collaboration with skilled artisans that breathe life into every vision.
Every armchair, table, or console that leaves our workshop is the result of a dialogue between design, craft, and technical understanding, ensuring it is not only beautiful but enduring.
Materials That Endure and Inspire
Selecting the right materials is vital. For textiles, I prioritize fabrics that combine elegance with durability. From luxurious wool blends to certified cottons, every fabric is chosen for comfort, safety, and longevity. For children’s furniture, such as cribs, we use 100% polyurethane foam that complies with British Standard and CAL 117 fire safety regulations. Upon request, we can include a fire-retardant interliner, reinforcing our commitment to both safety and quality.
For wood, we focus on responsibly harvested European hardwoods, valuing each grain, knot, and texture. Working closely with master cabinetmakers, we highlight the natural beauty of the wood while ensuring structural integrity. Stones, including Italian, Indian, Spanish, and Portuguese marbles, are selected for both their visual appeal and resilience, treated with natural oils and sealants to withstand daily use. Metals such as brass and stainless steel are hand-finished using traditional casting and brushing techniques, creating surfaces that interact with light while remaining durable.
Craftsmanship in Every Detail
Materials alone do not make the piece. The real artistry lies in the hands of our artisans, cabinetmakers, metalworkers, upholsterers, and finishers. Their knowledge, often passed down through generations, transforms raw materials into living forms. I work alongside them to ensure every detail, from a perfectly milled edge to a seamless upholstery stitch, enhances the design’s integrity.
Each armchair, table, or console is carefully tested for balance, ergonomics, and longevity.
Cantilevered armrests, angular legs, and delicate curves are refined and adjusted until touch, sight, and interaction align with our vision.
